Long Island University High School ​Communications Internship

We seek motivated high school juniors and seniors interested in electronic media and want to learn in a hands-on environment at a working radio station. The internship is at our Post Campus in Brookville. Students are required to have their own transportation. ​

Students accepted into the program will be assigned a radio station student staff member as a mentor, and interns begin general equipment training. Once trained, interns fill staffing needs in our various departments, which may include some on-air duties.

Interns can create their own music programs, work with our sportscasters on live games and sports talk shows. If they are interested in podcasting, they will work with our talk show hosts and have an opportunity to develop their own programming.

They work with student and professional staff to broadcast to our local FM coverage area and on our Internet streamed station THE WAVE. 

Each applicant must be interviewed, we require a written permission and general release from his or her parents and school to participate.

We work school guidance departments to assure students are credited with any local school credits they may be eligible to earn.
